Alison joined EJR Quartz in 2019 after spending 25 years in journalism. She is a former science correspondent on The Economist, where she worked for seven years, and she was most recently European bureau chief at Nature, the world’s most authoritative science journal.
Alison has a degree in physics from Imperial College London and a master’s degree in science communication from the same institution. Just for fun, she gained another degree in politics, philosophy and history from Birkbeck College, London, and after graduation she served as a governor for four years.
